Pressure testing a Waters 715 Autosampler using an NIST Pressure gauge restrictor developed by JF&A. This was a used instrument system purchased by the lab through Labx.com. It was delivered but gave poor peak shape. Upon inspection, it was found that the needle had been installed in the wrong orientation to the seal pack outlet. A common error when resale companies refurbish an instrument. There simply is no substitute for experience.
The analyist was amazed at the improvement in performance! It takes a chromatograher to know what to look for, and an engineer to fix it. |
